by Brad Howard
I guess this is the point where I tell you how I met Brad Pilon…
… or how reading about his Eat Stop Eat system has changed my life…
… and that would be the truth.
But instead, let me fill you in on the ideas that I used to have in my head for years, and how I MAY have made people FATTER in the process by regurgitating the common diet and nutrition advice you see being vomited out of every news source and wanna be “diet” guru that’s parading their new and improved fat loss solution.
Let’s be frank:
To lose weight, you must eat less than you burn.
That one LAW is non negotiable. It cannot be overturned. There’s no way around it. It’s physics.
(Well, thermodynamics actually)
Here’s the deal with Brad Pilon’s Eat Stop Eat:
You’re not gonna find a crazy 59 point system you have to follow,
-no crazy food rules
-no eat this, not that
-no killing off of entire food groups
… none of the things that you HATE about most diets.
You quite simply only do (or should I say … DON’T DO) once or twice a week… DON’T EAT!
Sounds crazy I know. 24 hours with no food.
But, when you think about it, it’s really not that bad. Finish eating at 6pm on a Thursday, then don’t eat again until the next day at 6pm.
Does it work?
Well, that all depends on you.
You see, the one caveat with Eat Stop Eat is the you must eat roughly the same sized meal you would normally eat for that next meal. You don’t get to gorge yourself and pound 3000 calories down your throat… well, you CAN, just don’t expect any results.
But as a weight loss solution, it’s pretty elegant.
Will it chew off your muscle mass? Nope, not if you’re weight training. (and he fully explains everything in the book about how weight training is a key part of any diet).
Will your metabolism drop? Nope, don’t even concern yourself with it… scare tactics really.
In fact, I’d say this:
“Even if you DON’T plan on using Brad Pilon’s method of intermittent fasting (aka Eat Stop Eat), you SHOULD pick up this manual ANYWAY“
Here’s why – with all of the jockeying around by health and nutrition experts, most of whom introduce new “hooks” at will – people tend to lose sight of the big picture when it comes to weight loss.
You get focused on all of the little things without having the fundamentals in place.
And here’s where Brad’s stuff is strong. It brings you back to what is REALLY the catalyst in fat loss.
THE CALORIE DEFICIT
So while I could harp on Eat Stop Eat for it’s ingenious new system for fat loss, I’m not, because I think I’d do you a huge injustice by not giving you the opportunity to suck in the “other” benefits.
The big picture.
Keeping it simple.
Living your life.
Brad talks about OCE a lot (Obsessive Compulsive Eating) and it’s something to definitely take to heart.
WHO IS EAT STOP EAT FOR?
If you’re the type of person that rips a bandaid off quickly… instead of slowly pulling it off because you understand the difference between short term pain and long term pain… then this is for you.
Why “diet” everyday for months on end when you can just do it once every 3-7 days?
WHO IS EAT STOP EAT NOT FOR?
If you’re a person that HAS to time your meals by the clock and need that type of structure in your life, this probably isn’t for you. The guidelines may be a little TOO loose for you.
